Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.
They may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 12
- 6 core units plus
- 6 elective units, of which:
- 4 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed below
for the remaining 2 elective units:
- up to 2 units may be selected from the elective units listed below
- if not listed, up to 2 units may be selected from a Certificate IV or above, from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
English Language Requirements
International students applying for this course either off-shore or on-shore will require:

- Either a minimum IELTS (General) test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course;
IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;
IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;
Note: IELTS equivalent tests include PTE and TOEFL. Results older than two years are not acceptable.
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) – Score 50
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) from Cambridge ESOL – Score 162
TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) – Score 46
OR
Provide evidence that you have studied in English for at least five years in one of the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- New Zealand
- Republic of Ireland
- South Africa
- United Kingdom
- United States
OR
Provide evidence that, within two years of the application date, you have successfully completed in Australia:
- A Foundation Course, or
- A Senior Secondary Certificate of Education.
For onshore international students, where IELTS or equivalent evidence has expired, the student will be required to meet the English language requirements by undertaking AIMT’s Internal Cambridge English Test.
– Certificate IV or Higher completed in Australia;
– Tertiary studies in the English medium of instruction.

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry. However, students must meet the following entry requirements to study at AIMT.

Course Duration
This course is delivered full-time over a total of 52 weeks, including:
- 40 weeks of scheduled face-to-face delivery; and
- Up to 12 weeks of public holidays and term breaks.
Delivery Arrangements
This program is delivered in a classroom-based environment at the main campus, located at:
84 Buckley Street, Footscray, VIC 3011
Each unit is delivered face-to-face to develop the knowledge and theoretical understanding required to undertake business roles and prepare students for dealing with situations that arise in an automotive setting.
Students will be provided with detailed Learner Guides and learning materials to support the assessment activities. The learning materials include learning assessments and other reference materials provided by the trainer relevant to the unit of competency being delivered.
Assessment Methods
AIMT uses a range of assessment methods to determine overall competency requirements for each unit of competency, including but not limited to:
- Written and Oral Questions
- Written Assignments
- Case Studies and Scenarios
- Role Plays and Class Activities
Students are informed about the specific assessment requirements at the beginning of each unit of competency, along with the submission/completion timeframes.
As this is Competency-Based Training (CBT), assessment outcomes will be recorded as:
- Competent (C)
- Not Yet Competent (NYC)
RPL / Credit Transfer
Students can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer towards this qualification.
Throughout your life, you develop a wide range of skills and knowledge through employment, volunteer work, family responsibilities, and everyday activities. The evidence of these skills and knowledge can be used to help you gain a qualification through the RPL process.
Students may also apply for Credit Transfer if they have previously completed the same unit of competency.
To apply for RPL or Credit Transfer, indicate your preference in the application form or speak to AIMT staff at the time of enrolment.
