AUR40216 – Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

Entry Requirements

Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 10

  • 1 core unit, plus
  • 9 elective units, of which:
  • up to 9 units may be chosen from the Elective Units listed below
  • up to 2 units may be chosen from a Certificate III qualification or above in this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided that the units chosen contribute to the vocational outcome of this qualification and do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification.

English Language Requirements

International students applying for this course either off-shore or on-shore will require:

    1. Either a minimum IELTS (General) test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course;

IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;

IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;

Note: IELTS equivalent tests include PTE and TOEFL. Results older than two years are not acceptable.

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) – Score 50

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) from Cambridge ESOL – Score 162

TOEFL Internet-Based Test (iBT) – Score 46

OR

Provide evidence that you have studied in English for at least five years in one of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • New Zealand
  • Republic of Ireland
  • South Africa
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

OR

Provide evidence that, within two years of the application date, you have successfully completed in Australia:

  • A Foundation Course, or
  • A Senior Secondary Certificate of Education.

For onshore international students, where IELTS or equivalent evidence has expired, the student will be required to meet the English language requirements by undertaking AIMT’s Internal Cambridge English Test.

– Certificate IV or Higher completed in Australia;

– Tertiary studies in the English medium of instruction.
